Wishbone Ash

Wishbone Ash took flight in 1969 on the wings of the harmony guitar interplay between Ted Turner and Andy Powell. Soaring upward on a strong melodic undercurrent, the band soon reached the upper stratosphere of the seventies jet stream. LP's like the 1972 classic, Argus and the quintessential Live Dates only acted to further enhance their growing reputation.

In the mid-70s Ted Turner was replaced by Laurie Wisefield and the band migrated to the States. Armed with a more radio-friendly sound, Wishbone Ash seemed poised for greater things, however their upward trajectory stalled as that all-important hit single remained elusive.

The eighties saw a period of transition and a number of line-up changes until 1987, when the original line-up reconvened and a revitalised Wishbone Ash rose to record and tour again. After 30 years and the dawn of a new millennium, a new configuration of the band is still touring as the Phoenix continues to fly.

Packed with memorabilia, many rare photos, a definitive discography and utilising unprecedented access to band members and associates, Gary Carter and Mark Chatterton have charted the long and sometimes turbulent career of one of England's premier rock outfits.
