SAF Publishing has
been documenting the accomplishments of a wide variety of interesting and
challenging pop, rock and jazz musicians for over fifteen years. We are often
keen to let the musicians themselves give their side of the story; hence
Michael Bruce from the Alice Cooper group's romp through the
band's heyday, or Zoot Horn Rollo's harrowing tale of life under the
reign of Captain Beefheart. But we have never shied away from the
underdog, or rock's less familiar treasures. As a result, Robert Wyatt,
Mark Eitzel, The Residents and Peter Perrett all get
a look in, as well as delving behind some more familiar names like Frank
Zappa, John McLaughlin, Grand Funk Railroad and Procol
Harum.
Firefly Publishing
was formed when SAF
Publishing and London's respected rock 'n' roll bookshop and publisher,
Helter Skelter, joined forces to release Dee Dee Ramone's highly
acclaimed autobiography. Since then the association and the Firefly imprint
has grown from strength to strength.
Firefly can now boast
a list that includes bestsellers about some of the biggest names in the rock
industry: Jethro Tull, Genesis, Santana and
Prince, to name but a few. This season sees the publication of a U2
Encyclopedia as well as a fan's eye view of the rise of the Welsh phenomenon
that is Catatonia.
